In mid-August, White Plains Hospital announced a t-shirt design contest intended to create additional awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place in October.  The hospital is seeking artists young and old, and of all talent levels, to join together and submit designs to help focus attention on this important campaign.

A large number of the entries will be posted on the White Plains Hospital Facebook page and website, with an overall winner being selected to be used on T-shirts that will be sold at the Hospital’s gift shop, on its website, and at The Westchester Mall October 14-15, with all proceeds going to Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center at White Plains Hospital. The contest will run from August 17 – September 14, 2011, with a winner announced by the end of September.

The winning design will be produced on pink t-shirts, in honor of the pink ribbon that has become synonymous with Breast Cancer Awareness in recent years. The design will be printed on the back of the shirt and can have multiple colors. The winning artist will receive a $100 gift card to Simon Malls and two t-shirts featuring their design.

“We are excited about the ‘Think Pink’ t-shirt design contest,” said Dawn W. French, Vice President, Marketing and Community Relations at White Plains Hospital. “We hope that by engaging the community in an interactive contest, it will help raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage early detection and successful treatment.”

The contest is open to anyone. All entries must be e-mailed as a pdf to WPHThinkPink@gmail.com and be accompanied by a completed entry form, and those artists under age 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the form and send in the submission. Additional rules and a submission form can be found here.
