• 19th Annual Yonkers Riverfest, Year’s Biggest Outdoor Celebration, is set for September 10

    Day of Free Family Friendly Fun for All in Yonkers Downtown

    Yonkers will again be the scene of one of the year’s most popular events on Saturday, September 10 when the Yonkers Downtown  Waterfront Business Improvement District presents the 19th Annual FREE  “Yonkers Riverfest.”  One of Westchester biggest outdoor celebrations, about 25,000 visitors will enjoy a full day of free entertainment, festive events and community spirit along the streets of downtown Yonkers and the waterfront starting at noon and continuing until dusk, rain or shine.

    Plans are still being finalized but the highlights of the program will be music performed on outdoor stages by some of the New York metro area’s top performance groups (rock n roll, jazz & blues, latin and more); arts and crafts displays; international food; classic cars; children’s petting zoo; face painting; mini golf; street jugglers and musicians; raffle prizes and many other surprises.

    Steve Sansone, Yonkers BID Executive Director, said: “Every year, we strive to present the best yet Riverfest and this year will be no exception, thanks to the support of our sponsors and the collaborative and creative efforts of our Riverfest committee members.     The Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront Business Improvement District was created to promote and implement the economic vitality of the District and the City of Yonkers. The Yonkers Downtown BID is also designed to maintain the downtown streets, contribute to public safety, landscape the district, market special events and create promotional opportunities to highlight the area. Additionally, the Yonkers Downtown BID will preserve and encourage the cultural, historic, tourist and civil interest of the District and the City of Yonkers.
